Odessa National Medical University
Odessa National Medical University (ONMU) started as a medical faculty in the 1900s. The medical faculty soon became one of the most reputable medical faculties in the Russian Empire. Many renowned medical scientists, including the Nobel laureate and professor I. I. Mechnikov, has worked here.
Today, the University remains one of the leading medical universities in Ukraine. It is the largest and one of the oldest Medical University of Eastern and Western Europe. It is also a member of the International Association of Medical Universities. It is known for maintaining high standards of education throughout Europe and America. The University has been conferred with the highest level of accreditation by the Ukrainian government (level IV).
Odessa National Medical University has trained more than six hundred Professors, 1300 Doctors of Sciences and about eighty thousand doctors since its existence, among them there are more than 10,000 foreign nationals and about more than 600 International Doctors of sciences.
This is recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO), International Medical Education Directory (IMED), the Indian Medical Council, Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, European Council of Medicine and General Medical Council of the UK.
It is also recognized by the SADC council and there is no to give any exams after the completion of your studies to start working in Southern African countries.

Odessa or Odesa is the largest city along the whole Black Sea, the fifth largest city in Ukraine and arguably the most important city of trade. It is the third most populous city of Ukraine (total population of approx. 1.1 million) and a major tourism center, located on the northwestern shore of the Black Sea. Odessa is also often called the "Pearl of the Black Sea".
The city typically experiences dry, cold winters, which are relatively mild when compared to most of Ukraine as they're marked by temperatures that rarely fall below minus 10 °C while during summers, the temperatures often reach into the high 30° C.

ONMU has six hostels which are provided with:
- Free 24x7 gas, electricity, hot & cold water facility and phone.
- All rooms are centrally heated.
- Furniture and bedding in rooms are provided by the hostel.
- Reading rooms and gyms are also available in every hostel.
- Hostels are provided with round the clock security.
- Student's cafeteria.
- Hostels are surrounded by a green belt with facilities for outdoor sports activities like basketball, volleyball, football, etc.
Odessa national medical university's teaching staff consists of more than 1000 doctors, among them there are 106 Professors, 410 Associate Professors, 42 members of Foreign Academies, 39 honored workers of Science & Technology, 10 winners of State Prizes and other International awards. This is the highest recorded number of academicians working in the Medical University of Ukraine and the whole of Europe.
The University has 7 faculties, a medical college, and a Preparatory department for Foreign students. Fifty-eight theoretical departments and forty-five Clinical departments also work under ONMU.
It is a member of the International Association of Universities and the International Scientific Committee of UNESCO. The International Association of Universities, founded in 1950 on the initiative of UNESCO, unites about 600 institutions and organizations from 150 countries.
